Summer Moves, Market Clues

It’s that time of year again—Paula and I are heading north for the summer. This past winter in Florida was a busy one: 18 weeks of polo, five family office conferences, the Palm Beach Boat Show, and Barrett-Jackson all made for a full season of great conversations and valuable perspective.

Unfortunately — or maybe fortunately, depending on your perspective — we didn’t get much skiing in out west due to limited snowfall, though we did enjoy a wonderful Christmas ski trip in France with family. It was a good reminder of why we all work so hard: time well spent, in the right places, with the right people.

The U.S. yacht market in 2026 is best described as being in a post-boom normalization phase. It’s no longer overheated like it was during COVID, but it remains fundamentally strong. What’s particularly interesting right now is how differently various segments are performing. The smaller yacht market has softened, creating room for thoughtful buyers, while the large yacht segment continues to show strength.

At the same time, the new-build market remains robust, and the long-term outlook for the industry is positive, with steady growth expected throughout the decade.

This strength in new construction is also creating compelling opportunities in the pre-owned large yacht market. As more owners step into new builds, quality inventory inevitably returns to the market, often creating exceptional value for buyers who want capability, pedigree, and immediate enjoyment without the wait.

For buyers considering smaller yachts, the current softness may also present an attractive window. Condition, layout, upgrade history, and timing matter more than ever, but with the right search parameters, there is real value hiding in plain sight.

I’m also continuing to watch the growth of efficient, eco-forward catamarans, particularly the latest generation of multihulls that combine range, comfort, smart storage, solar integration, and modern amenities. For the right buyer, these yachts offer a unique blend of independence, flexibility, and long-range enjoyment.

If you’re considering a large vessel & the lifestyle with it, I’d be happy to assist. I’m constantly sourcing both on-market and off-market opportunities, always with an eye toward finding exceptional value and reliability.

Whether you’re mapping out a first purchase or refining your dockside experience, the market rewards preparation, precision, and good relationships. I’m here to help you navigate the opportunities and turn 2026 plans into unforgettable time on the water.
